Research Firm InfoTrends Releases 75DI White Paper

April 26, 2012
Recommends Highly Automated Fifth Generation B2+ Format Digital Offset Press to Meet Growing Demand for High Quality Quick Turnaround Short Run Work

GREENWICH, CT—Apr 26, 2012—Presstek Inc. (NASDAQ: PRST), a leading supplier of digital offset printing solutions to the printing and communications industries, today announced that research firm InfoTrends has released an extensive white paper analyzing the market impact, benefits and competitive advantages of the Presstek 75DI digital offset press. The white paper is available as a free download at www.presstek.com/75DIreport.

“Our in-depth look at the Presstek 75DI revealed a number of advantages this 29” (B2+) press has in today’s highly competitive and rapidly evolving print market,“ said Jim Hamilton, group director of InfoTrends’ Production Printing & Media Consulting Services. ”Its six-minute job-to-job turnover is impressive, and the fact that this time includes imaging of chemistry-free plates on-press should not be overlooked.

“Presstek’s 75DI makes a compelling argument for cost-effective, offset-quality, print automation with a workflow that allows last-minute changes and opens up a range of new application opportunities. This should be very appealing to today’s print service providers who are increasingly asked to provide a wide range of work within ever tightening turnaround times.“

The Presstek 75DI is available in four- to 10-color configurations and prints at 16,000 sheets per hour. An in-line aqueous coater and a full range of productivity enhancing options can be added to make the press even more productive. The 75DI features automated support for 300 lpi and FM screening and has a small environmental footprint. Print quality is further enhanced by utilizing waterless printing technology.

The 75DI has a maximum sheet size of 31.02x 23.62˝ (788 mm x 600 mm), a minimum sheet size of 10.98x 7.87˝ (279 mm x 200 mm), and can print on a broad array of stocks ranging from 0.0016˝ to 0.031˝ (0.04 mm to 0.8 mm) thick.

“We are pleased with InfoTrends’ findings in this thorough report,” said Stan Freimuth, Presstek’s chairman, president and CEO. “We believe it offers an objective perspective of the 75DI’s strengths and its positioning relative to digital inkjet and toner-based printers as well as conventional offset presses. We are looking forward to showcasing this press at drupa 2012, and will have this informative white paper available at the show for distribution to visitors to our stand (Hall 4, Stand B03).”
