Here are some of the latest wide-format printers on the market for in-plants.
Eight Colors of LUCIA Ink
The Canon imagePROGRAF iPF9000S is a 60˝ printer offering high-speed throughput up to 403 square feet per hour (sfph), with a built-in calibration feature. The iPF9000S features eight colors of LUCIA ink (cyan, photo cyan, magenta, photo magenta, yellow, black, matte black and gray) to create smooth gradations and reduced graininess. Its color configuration increases print efficiency by dispersing eight colors of ink across 12 ink channels of the two print heads for better ink coverage with each pass. Its two high-precision, high density print heads boast a total of 30,720 nozzles, which lay down precise 4 picoliter ink droplets to produce sharp detail. —www.usa.canon.com
CMYK Plus White Printing
The EFI Rastek T1000 gives you photographic image quality on a larger flatbed vacuum table platform. It caters to traditional signage and specialty application markets where CMYK plus white printing are essential. It comes with four-color plus optional white ink support, enabling spot color and under- and over-printing. The Rastek T1000 handles a range of flexible and rigid media with a versatile media handling transport system. It produces photographic image quality at 460 sfph and delivers resolutions from 600x300 up to 1,200x900 dpi, with a maximum media thickness of 1.9˝. —www.efi.com
Solvent-based Ink Technology
The Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 is a 64˝, roll-to-roll printer with a new Dual-Array MicroPiezo AMC print head. It uses solvent-based ink technology that has a less harmful impact on the environment and worker health, while also being compatible with virtually any solvent-based media. Epson UltraChrome GS Ink technology has eight individual colors, including a new orange and green. UltraChrome GS Ink technology eliminates the need for external dryers and air purification systems—it provides virtually odorless printing with no special ventilation or air purification systems required. Speeds range from 91 sfph up to 180 sfph for everyday production quality printing. A media take-up reel allows for unattended production of large runs. —www.proimaging.epson.com
