On a recent trip to the City of Angels, IPG Editor Bob Neubauer took a tour of the City of Los Angeles' Publishing Services Division. While there, he shot some video footage of the major municipal in-plant.

The Step Forward Program, introduced by Konica Minolta Business Solutions, will provide a forum for encouraging and supporting women in business. The program will be rolled out to all KMBS branches in the U.S., and will feature a variety of guest speakers.

IPG Editor-in-Chief Bob Neubauer escaped the harsh winter weather in the Northeast to check out Canon Solutions America's second anniversary event in Florida. He also took a trip out west to Los Angeles to visit two different in-plants and attend Konica Minolta's "Art of Disruption" event.

Embracing the disruption that is reshaping our industry was the driving motivation behind a supercharged three-day event last month in Los Angeles hosted by Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Called the "Art of Disruption," the business conference brought together more than 1,000 Konica Minolta dealers for an intensive education and inspirational experience.

Improving and upgrading technology is nothing new for the eight-employee in-plant, which lies about an hour east of downtown Los Angeles, in the foothills of the scenic San Bernardino Mountains. But as services like shredding and wide-format printing have been added and expanded to better serve the needs of the university, Printing Services still values its offset capabilities.

According to President and COO Rick Taylor, the biggest risk Konica Minolta Business Solutions can take is playing it safe. KMBS hosted the "Art of Disruption" event in Los Angeles this week, demonstrating some of the company's latest technology geared toward disrupting the market. 

IPG went Hollywood this week, venturing out to Los Angeles to visit two of the country's largest in-plants. Editor Bob Neubauer got the lowdown on how the city's 108-year-old in-plant expects to grow in the future, and was impressed by the efficiency of the in-plant operation at the Church of Scientology.

It’s hard to improve on a winning formula, but EFI has continued to raise the bar for its Connect users’ conference as illustrated by last month’s 15th annual event in Las Vegas. Approximately 1,500 attendees—1,000 of them EFI customers from 25 different countries (a 20 percent jump from the previous year)—gathered at The Wynn Las Vegas for four days of educational and breakout sessions, plus several keynote presentations.

When the Iowa Bankers Association installed a four-color Ryobi 3304 in 2007, Todd Palmer was excited that his two-employee in-plant would be able to bring the majority of the association’s four-color printing in-house. But a lot can change in eight years.

All over the country, in-plants of every size are looking beyond traditional print services for additional lines of business that will endear them to their customers while generating needed revenue. Services like scanning, shredding, garment printing, framing and many others are well within the grasp of in-plants.
