Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication. Mr. Neubauer is very active in the U.S. in-plant industry. He attends all the major in-plant conferences and has visited more than 170 in-plant operations around the world. He has given presentations to numerous in-plant groups in the U.S., Canada and Australia, including the Association of College and University Printers and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. He also coordinates the annual In-Print contest, co-sponsored by IPMA and In-plant Impressions.

The Graphic Arts Show Company (GASC) has teamed with In-plant Graphics and Printing Impressions magazines for a series of Graph Expo pre-show previews, as well as production and onsite distribution of the "Official" Show Directory and New Product Reference Guide.

The PRINT 13 trade show emphasizes the trend toward the Great Diversification Movement. The printing industry is enduring some violent changes from a technology standpoint. With the decade-long trend toward shorter runs continuing, digital printing—especially inkjet—stepping up its game, and electronic alternatives continuing to harvest market share, diversification is on the lips of many printers as they prepare to trek to Chicago for the quadrennial Fall classic.

Suddenly it’s cool to be an in-plant. Over the past couple of years, graphic arts trade shows have made an extra effort to attract in-plant managers, and next month’s PRINT 13 show will continue that trend. The seminar program at the Chicago show (September 8-12) will feature a whole track just for in-plants, and several lunches and receptions will provide managers with additional opportunities to get informed, network and eat.

Printers need to know how they can best serve the evolving needs of their clients, and the first step is becoming thoroughly immersed in the latest tools available. With knowledge comes confidence, which makes the printer a more effective shopper.

Just two months away, Graph Expo is shaping up to be an in-plant manager’s dream. The country’s largest graphic arts trade show is putting a lot of emphasis on the in-plant market this year, with sessions, users’ groups and networking opportunities focused exclusively on in-plants.

With AIIM/On Demand now just a memory, the industry is starting to think about the next major graphic arts show, Print 09, taking place September 11- 16 in Chicago's McCormick Place. This year, for the first time, Print 09 will devote a section of the show floor to green-sustainability issues.

A one-stop destination for 'green' information, GREENspace will feature continuous free education on sustainability issues, complimentary one-on-one consulting with sustainability experts, plus more than 4,500 square feet of exhibit space dedicated solely to exhibitors who will display eco-friendly products and services.
