Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication. Mr. Neubauer is very active in the U.S. in-plant industry. He attends all the major in-plant conferences and has visited more than 170 in-plant operations around the world. He has given presentations to numerous in-plant groups in the U.S., Canada and Australia, including the Association of College and University Printers and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. He also coordinates the annual In-Print contest, co-sponsored by IPMA and In-plant Impressions.

Anyone who has ever attended an Association of College and University Printers (ACUP) conference knows what an exciting event it can be. The camaraderie of attendees combined with the quality of the sessions make this one of the premier in-plant events of the year.

With excellent sessions and networking opportunities, plus a tour of an award-winning in-plant, ACUP 2011 had everything that college and university in-plant managers could have asked for.

It may have looked and felt just like a traditional ACUP conference, but when the Association of College and University Printers met in Dallas in April, it was really a new beginning. This was the association's first meeting as a dues-paying, non-profit organization.

A few weeks ago, right at the end of the ACUP conference in Dallas, dozens of in-plant managers from around the country traveled to the University of North Texas to take a tour of its award-winning in-plant. A new IPG video documents this visit, showing off UNT's impressive capabilities.

The very last session at ACUP 2011 proved to be one of the best. Jimmy Friend, director of Printing and Distribution Solutions at the University of North Texas, took the stage and revealed that his award-winning in-plant once produced such low-quality work and had such bad service that nearly every customer he surveyed described its service as unacceptable. He then described the steps he took, over the past 15 years, to turn his in-plant completely around into the roll model it is today.

On Sunday, college and university in-plant managers from all over the U.S., Canada and even the U.K. will assemble in Dallas for the 46th annual Association of College and University Printers conference.
