Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication. Mr. Neubauer is very active in the U.S. in-plant industry. He attends all the major in-plant conferences and has visited more than 170 in-plant operations around the world. He has given presentations to numerous in-plant groups in the U.S., Canada and Australia, including the Association of College and University Printers and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. He also coordinates the annual In-Print contest, co-sponsored by IPMA and In-plant Impressions.

Small shops can produce excellent work. Just ask Tim Criswell, of Sunkist Growers, whose in-plant consistently wins In-Print awards.

In six locations across the country, in-plants have been gathering over the past month for one-day networking forums. Coordinated by the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association, the regional meetings were designed to bring in-plants together with others in their areas while spreading the word about the benefits IPMA can bring to them.

A high school in-plant in Los Angeles got a high-profile visitor last month. Former governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger toured Venice High School’s Super Shop 9 during an open house to celebrate its new $3 million state-of-the-art printing facility.

To accommodate a large increase in digitally printed pieces, the in-plant at Grace Community Church, in Arleta, Calif., has replaced its friction-fed perforating/scoring/slitting machine with a new air-fed 24˝ Rollem ETR Champion. It boasts a more sophisticated guiding system and a deep pile feeder that handles stacks up to 30˝ deep.

WITH CELEBRITY practitioners like Tom Cruise and John Travolta among its members, Scientology has gotten its share of media attention over the years. The growing church, founded by L. Ron Hubbard in 1954, boasts more than 9,000 churches, missions and affiliated groups worldwide.
