Temperatures in Minneapolis cooled a bit on the second day of ACUP 2013, but the enthusiasm certainly did not. About 80 managers from 25 states and the U.K. are gathered in the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” right now for the 48th annual Association of College and University Printers (ACUP) conference.

After a long, cold winter, Minneapolis greeted college and university in-plant managers with warm temperatures and cloudy skies on the first day of ACUP. About 80 managers from 25 states and the U.K. are gathered in the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” right now for the 48th annual Association of College and University Printers (ACUP) conference.

The Association of College and University Printers will make its first venture into the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” next month when its 48th annual conference takes place in Minneapolis, May 19-23. Hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato and Gustavus Adolphus College, ACUP will feature a full agenda of educational sessions, as well as a vendor exhibit area and plenty of time to network with fellow higher-ed in-plant managers. The group will also tour the Print & Mail Operations of Minnesota State University, Mankato. Two keynote speakers will offer some interesting perspectives:

Last month I had an opportunity to moderate a webinar on the topic "Justifying Your In-plant's Value in Tough Times." It's obviously an important subject for in-plants, as evidenced by the 250+ people who signed up for the live event. I was glad to see so many familiar managers on the attendee list from all over the U.S. and Canada.

University in-plant managers will have another opportunity to get together at the end of this month when the Southeastern University Printing & Digital Managers Conference (SUPDMC) takes place in Valdosta, Ga., September 30-October 4. Hosted by Drew Burgering, manager of Printing & Copying Services at Valdosta State University (VSU), the 37th annual SUPDMC will feature a number of interesting sessions and roundtables:
